    WITH BEAT SERVICE

Beat Service aka Madis Sillamo has belted a string of Top Ten hits on Beatport Trance charts and has remixed some of the major forces in the Trance scene: Markus Schulz, George Acosta and Lange to name a few. Besides extensive touring in clubs worldwide, Beat Service has had releases on some of the finest dance labels such as Anjuna, Black Hole and Armada.

FL – What are your main music influences? What drove you into dance music, more particularly, Trance & Progressive ?

People... Emotions. Everyday situations, love for the music. Trance is SUCH A beautiful genre THAT BLENDS SO MUCH EMOTION INTO dark sounds and big basses. Endless oportunities....... I love it!

FL – Do you use samples in your productions?

If you mean the percussions and beats and sound effects, then YES absolutely. I Cannot live without them! ON the other HAND, I AM NOT USING ANY synth/audio samples. I like to "give birth" to all the sounds i use and they come STRAIGHT from the synthezisers i use... THAT´S HOW I CREATE FRESHER SOUND AND VIBE.

FL – Can you tell us a bit about your usual setup when producing music?

Cubase - a lot of synthezisers, Virus TI - Samples - Let´s do this! :)

FL- What are your favorite VST plugins ?

    Sylenth, Massive, Nexus!

FL - What´s the audio hardware of your dreams (and do you have it yet)?

Well, my dream come true hardware was Virus TI - have it now wohoo! But i DO have a lot ON MY WISH LIST... Hopefully someday... Moog Slim Phatty, Moog Voyager RME, Dave Smith Prophet and the lisT goes on and on.....

FL – When you first started producing music what software/hardware were you using ? And what changed the most in terms of your work flow while producing music since then ?

When i started back in 2001 or so, i used MadTracker. A crazy sample based production program... wow that was insane! After that i upgraded to Fruity Loops and for the last 4 years i´ve been using Cubase. Love that one! What´s changed? I think the main thing is SPEED! Everyhting is a lot more easier and faster to come up with... If i had the idea of some cool effect or arrangement back in 2002 or so, then i had to try to work it out manually... These days you have a plugin for pretty much everything you want to do. And second thing about the SPEED - computers are way faster, which is sooo important :)

FL- You are starting a new track, what do you create first: beat/drums or melody or bass ?

Well it really depends... Sometimes i start with building a beat section, sometimes with breakdown. But mostly i start with the main melody.... then add beats, basses etc...

FL – How do you see the Trance scene today and where do you think it´s going to ?

Im actually happy to see that all the genres are basicly melting together today and we can take the edm into a whole new level. Trance is developing and i really don´t see any limits in the future... Few years back i couldn´t imagine the situation in the EDM scene we are having now, so i cannot predict what´s gonna happen in the future, but i can tell you that it´s going to be awesome! :)

FL - In conclusion, a word to the Future Loops and Beat Service fans out there. What are in your opinion the highlights of "Beat Service Progressive Trance" and how do you see it being used?

I wanted to create a samplepack that really delivers that true "Beat Service Sound". The cd contains samples from the biggest tracks i´ve been working on over the years and im sure everyone will find something from that cd. Its not only for the starting producers out there, but for the established ones as well. Im using the same loops and oneshots now and i will do that in the future too...!
